Inspired by a fascination with Presque Isle State Park, Vickie Allen Shea has a creative art studio with functional and beach glass-infused pottery for the Erie community for over forty-five years.
Born to a military family, Vickie traveled the United States before
earning her B.S. in Art Education from American University. She went on to earn her M.ED from Edinboro University.
She currently lives in Erie, PA and her store is located in The Shops At The Colony Plaza. She has also sold her work at national art shows.
Vickie has been an Artist in Residence and an instructor for the blind. She taught high school and currently invites the public into her pottery studio to experience the joy of clay. She enjoys the exchange of ideas and creativity with the people that choose the "Try It" pottery experience.
Vickie Allen Shea in her creative art studio offers affordable art which is sold in her gallery and on Etsy. If you visit the store, you'll also be able to enjoy the art of fellow potters who create and sell in the gallery. Update your home with some awesome ceramics or purchase a memorable gift. Allen Stoneware pottery is made in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Our "Try It" class includes a single two-hour session.
( Ages eight years and above.) We can accommodate a minimum of two participants and up to sixteen. (Our studio has eight wheels which can be shared.) The fee for the class includes the clay used to make two pieces of pottery of your choice. For example: we guide you to make a mug and a bowl or a mug and a plate. Once completed, you pick your own glaze colors. Your pieces will be food and dishwasher safe. Be prepared to wait a week or more for your pottery to be dried, fired and glazed.
Sharing this art form is relaxing, releasing, expressive and fun. No previous experience is necessary: Vickie will guide the process from start to finish. Feel free to bring your own refreshments. It's a great idea for a date, anniversary, family outing or girls night.
